Lately I have been asked ‘’what made you cut your hair?” And the simplest answer that I give is that “I wanted a new look” but there is more to the story.
I have been contemplating on cutting all my hair since 2016, yes It took me 3 years to finally make this decision. I first started with a taper cut as my “big chop”, and just doing that scared me. But after I felt free and confident with myself.
The journey was a spiritual awakening for me that really tested my confidence. During this period in my life I learned how to take care of my hair, I tested what she liked in it and what she did not like. I tried different protective styles, twist outs, blow outs, you name it. I ended up falling into the category of women who change their hair every two weeks.
Now I know it may seem like you can just wake up one day and decide to cut your hair. But if you know me, you know that I am indecisive, so it took me a whole month to book my appointment.
During this time I went back and forth with my decision, I was honestly nervous so I looked at all of my hair options and realized that I did every hairstyle that you can think of. So here I was faced with the reality that I was actually going to go through with cutting my hair.
But no one told me finding the barber to cut my hair would be so stressful. After looking through Instagram every day I finally found a barber.
And I can say that I never felt more beautiful. So, for the ladies out there who are afraid to cut your hair, the best advice that I can give you is to move at your own pace. Start small by cutting a little off at a time, then go for that big chop. But if you are ready, I say go for it, do a self-reflection, and book that appointment. You won’t regret it I promise :)
